Since its establishment, Baycan Elektrik has embraced environmental responsibility, green energy, and clean environment principles across all its activities. Our largest project in this area is the Solar Power Plant (SPP) investment we made last year using our own resources to reduce our carbon footprint.
Using 40% of the installed capacity of our two facilities, we launched our 700 MWh SPP Project at the beginning of the new year and now meet the entire electricity demand of our existing facility, with an annual consumption of 670 MWh, through this system.
Among 804 companies operating in the Eskişehir Organized Industrial Zone, we are among the first 10 companies to make a solar energy investment on this scale. According to our system reports, since the project began, our production has been equivalent to planting 1,623 trees, preventing 30 tons of carbon dioxide emissions, and reducing the use of 12 tons of coal. As a renewable energy source that does not pollute the environment or generate harmful waste, solar energy also offers significant advantages in terms of installation and use.
Our ISO 14001 Environmental Management System certification demonstrates that we implement green production processes at our facilities. Following an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) conducted by the Turkish Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, Baycan Elektrik has been certified as outside the scope of the assessment.
Among our future goals is a solar power investment capable of meeting the energy needs of both factories (1,800,000 kWh) once our second facility reaches full operation. We also plan to feed and sell our excess capacity to the grid. In addition, we have completed the required training for the ISO 50001 Energy Management System and are currently in the certification scheduling process.
Ultimately, we aim to continue our operations without relying on external energy sources while fully optimizing our carbon emissions.
